Your child has just "come out", what do you do?...You want to tell your parents you are gay, but how?...How should you support your gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender loved one? PFLAG members have experienced the the whole range of emotions in dealing with sexual identity issues. PFLAG is SUPPORT: Local chapter meetings where you can share things you thought no one would understand. PFLAG is EDUCATION: Obtain books, pamphlets and videos from you local chapter to learn about GLBT feelings and issues. PFLAG is ADVOCACY: Work for basic civil rights for your GLBT loved one. The Northern Illinois PFLAG Council is an affiliation of Chicago and Suburban Chapters of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, a volunteer organization with locations throughout the USA and other parts of the world. Our Meetings PFLAG meetings are a place for confidence, not suspicions. The names of members and participants are to remain confidential. No participants need fear exposure or abuse in participating in PFLAG. Whether you are a parent whose child has come out, a GLBT or questioning person, or just a friend wanting to show support for the GLBT person in your life, come to a meeting to share your experience or learn from the experiences of others. Most meetngs start with a short program then break up into pesonal support groups. You don't need to be a member to attend!
